The Porcelain Press restroom rating system, while hardly scientific, will help you understand what makes a bathroom one of the best, and how restrooms compare to one another.

About the restroom rating system:
- 1 star – Meh. The restroom exists, but it’s boring.
- 2 stars – Okay. There’s at least some interesting feature to the restroom, or else it’s plain but unexpectedly nice for the location.
- 3 stars – Average. Someone put a little thought into the restroom’s aesthetics, but it’s not going to win awards any time soon.
- 4 stars – Good. There’s something cool going on here.
- 5 stars – Awesome. It’s either gorgeous or unique, or has an awesome theme. (It will be a contender for my annual top 5 restrooms list.)
Note: A restroom’s rating is not all about cleanliness – it’s about being interesting and unique. However, messes and overall lack of cleanliness generally detract a point.
